If We Were Strolling Together

If We were Strolling Together (11)

Sometimes I wish these were not just posts. I wish we were strolling together for real. I wish we could make time to meet each other. I wish we were not just virtual friends. But if this is what we have to do, we will stick to this 🙂

If we were strolling together, I’d drag you to the meadows because the weather is absolutely wonderful. I’d drag you to the meadows to show you the gorgeous cherry blossoms. And this is what you’d see…

If we were strolling together I’d tell you how busy I have been at work! I don’t have many positive results to show for the past 6 months of work and that’s starting to worry me because I have a talk scheduled in the second week of June, a poster to present at a conference in the third week of June and my 10 month evaluation (that will decide whether I will be promoted to the second year of PhD or detained to be sent home with a Master’s degree) in July. With all these deadlines to meet, I am working really hard to get some stuff done.

If we were strolling together I’d tell you to visit Ames at her site where she writes about fitness and being a mother. I wandered onto her site one day just randomly, started following her and have seen her grow from strength to strength as she took on a new job, became a mother and is now pregnant with her second. I’d tell you how much this woman inspires me.

If we were strolling together, I’d also introduce you to Melissa who is a homesteader living in New Mexico. She dreams of being a full time farmer and living a self sustaining life. And she isn’t just dreaming, you see! She owns a farm now. Yes, she has to work to keep the expenses of the farm up and she perhaps will have to continue fueling the farm dreams by working and earning for it but she does it with no regrets. It’s a joy to read her posts…they are about silly ducklings, funny turkeys, Akuna – her great pyrenees, her daughter E, the loving goats… Her simplicity is endearing and her spirit inspiring.

If we were strolling together, I’d ask you about bloggers that inspire you. (Leave your comments about this below. Let’s meet and greet some new people) I’d ask you what you look for in a blog that you follow. I’d ask you what attracts you to a blog.

With that, I’d let you get back to your chores. I’d ask you if you have planned anything for Mother’s Day…it’s celebrated on different dates in different parts of the world. Mother’s day in the UK was on 26th March but if you are in India, remember to wish your mothers on 14th May.

*****

See you soon on another stroll. Until then, take some time to observe the beautiful flowers while you walk to work, take a moment to breathe in some fresh air and be grateful for all you have.

  1. such a cute post! sorry I have a lot of your posts to get the answer I guess (long weekend to read more on WordPress yippie), but I don’t remember seeing it in the about section… Where are you in the UK at the moment? We had cherry trees on our campus in Nottingham and spring was gorgeous with all the ducks, geese, swan couple with their new babies, and squirrels! I miss it surely but the spring in France is also gorgeous 🙂
Good luck with your PhD work and don’t worry you are in the first year of your PhD, everything is so slow then. In the first year viva just show them a meaningful story, even if you cannot support your story with results yet, tell them about your plans. Mostly they want to see that you own your project and you got what it takes to continue a PhD, but you just started and things are in progress 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for reaching out. Coming from someone who’s done her PhD and knows what this is about, it means a lot. Yes I don’t mean to impress them with results because I hardly have any at the moment but I’m confident of presenting a good story 🙂 thank you for your support… Will definitely let you know how it all went when I’m through with it.
Also, I’m in Edinburgh these days. Thanks for pointing out that I have to update my about section with my current whereabouts 🙂
It’s great to know that Nottingham had a beautiful spring too. The cherry blossoms here are wilting already and that really is bad news.. They were so beautiful!!! But well changes in the seasons are just beautiful to watch and admire so I’m sure I’ll find more beautiful sights.

If we were strolling together, I’d take you to the Retiro park in Madrid, where we could walk in the sun, sit outside in a café and watch the passers-by, or have an ice cream.
I’ll visit your blogging friends and will have a read of the lives…
Two bloggers who inspire me, are Wendy at https://picnicwithants.com/
    and Susan at https://rhythminlife.net/
Wendy has given me so much support, information and advice about my hearing loss, and she also shows great strength, honesty and kindness in her posts. Susan is a poet who writes wonderful poetry about her feelings, her life and struggles. She is also a very strong woman who I’m proud to call my blogging sister.
Take care Aishwarya and have a lovely weekend. Carly

  4. Good luck with your PhD and hope you make it through these few months! It sounds intense, and sometimes results can take a while to manifest. If I were strolling with you, I will bring you sweets like cakes to cheer you on. Beautiful cherry blooms 🙂

  5. I love strolling with you to see the cherry blossom because they are the most cheering blossom I’ve seen. I love strolling with you and ask you to show me all the castles. My daughter went to St. Andrew for summer study abroad. The school took them to Scotland to visit the castles. When I went through my doctoral program, I was nervous and embarrassed when the Dean asked “What is you contingency plan?” because I didn’t have one!! Best wishes to your presentation, evaluation and get through your first year!

      1. Educational Leadership. I worked 11 years as school district administrator after I graduated. Now I’m retired! We went to London for 7 days and my childhood friend showed me around. It was wonderful! I love to see Scotland!

      2. Wow, I’m so inspired right now! And it’s wonderful that us so-called ‘geeky’ people are united by interests other than what we studied or worked on. Cheers to WP for bringing us together 🙂
